Roy Thomas (Indian, b. 1966) trained in fine art, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting with first rank and a gold medal from the College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala University, and later completing an MFA in Painting at the College of Arts, New Delhi. He has built a career spanning over three decades, with a long exhibition history that includes numerous solo and group shows in India and abroad.
Thomas works primarily in oil on canvas, drawing on imagery from history, art and media to create thought-provoking paintings that balance strong aesthetic values with conceptual depth. His more recent work reflects concerns about climate change and the impact of global warming on culture and civilisation. He has presented major solo exhibitions such as Deep Within and Near the Confluence and has participated in significant contemporary art forums and fairs, establishing him as a prominent voice in the Indian contemporary art scene.
