Joohee Park (Korean, b. 1979) is a New York-based contemporary artist who works under the name Stickymonger. She studied Visual Information Design at Ewha Womans University in Seoul and later continued her education at Pratt Institute in New York. After beginning her career in graphic design, Park transitioned fully into art making, drawing inspiration from childhood memories and the visual textures of oil, ink and fluid forms rooted in her upbringing near her family's gas station.
As Stickymonger, she first became known for large-scale vinyl sticker murals, later expanding into spray paint and acrylic works featuring surreal, wide-eyed figures in ambiguous dreamscapes. Her art has been exhibited internationally, with solo shows in New York, Hong Kong, Madrid and Miami, and appearances at major art fairs such as Art Basel, Frieze and Art Central.
"Obsession, No Joke," is based on the original painting of the same name. “Just as I like to be surrounded by my obsessions, I like to paint girls with their obsessions,” the artist says.
