Tan Choh Tee (Singaporean, b. 1942) is a Singaporean artist celebrated for his impressionist-style oil paintings that capture the nostalgic beauty of Singapore’s evolving urban landscape. Immigrating to Singapore in 1953, he studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts under pioneer artists such as Cheong Soo Pieng, Georgette Chen, Liu Kang, and Chen Wen Hsi.
Initially working as a book designer, Tan became a full-time artist in 1976. His works, characterised by layered brushwork and a realist-impressionist style, often depict Singapore’s street scenes and still life subjects. Over the decades, he has remained a dedicated plein-air painter, capturing the transient light and atmosphere of various locales.
Tan's contributions to the arts have been recognised with several awards, including the Cultural Medallion for Visual Arts in 2006. His paintings are held in prestigious collections and have been exhibited internationally.
