Tan Choh Tee (Singaporean, b. 1942), recipient of the 2006 Cultural Medallion for Visual Arts, painted this scene in Paris. He was the first alumni resident to stay in Nanyang Academy of Fine Art’s apartment in the International City of the Arts in Paris (Cite Internationale des Art). The three-month stint allowed Tan to meet with artists from all over the world and to attend study tours of major museums in Paris, and this painting was one of the 15 he had hoped to complete during his time there.
