Tang Da Wu (Singaporean, b. 1943) is one of Singapore's more prolific contemporary artists. He is perhaps best known for his contributions to the performance art realm, through his cofounding of Singapore's seminal The Artists Village, an experimental and multidisciplinary artists' collective.
However, his artistic career began with drawings and paintings. Tang primarily paints with Chinese ink, showcasing the medium's potential for dynamism both in subject and technique. His ink paintings persistently explore motion and energy, and his subjects go beyond the medium's usual confines of still-life and landscapes. Tang's mastery of ink painting is evident through his bleeding of inks together, its varying shades forming vivid monochromatic forms that conveys an elusive emotion that invites the viewer's own interpretation.
