Wangwatcharakul (b. 1971, Thailand), is celebrated and recognised for his use of spatially sensitive compositions to depict minimal urban scenes, as well as his paintings on aluminium sheets. His choice  of aluminium makes his play with light and shadow unique. Elevating the vernacular to sublimity, the artist draws attention to the subtle interplay of light and shadow, man-made and nature, by which he instills a mood of contemplation and meditation. 

Harnessing staining techniques that imbue his canvases with the same metallic veneer of his mainstay aluminium surfaces, the artist  is a master at evoking the stillness of the big city. 

Wangwatcharakul graduated with a Master of Fine Art in Painting
from the esteemed Silapakorn University, Thailand  in 2003.
