Tung Yue Nang (Singaporean, b. 1959) is a multidisciplinary artist known for his fusion of traditional Chinese ink painting with modern Western media. He began his art training at age 15 under Chinese master Shi Xiang Tuo and later worked in advertising before becoming a full-time artist. His work spans calligraphy, seal carving, ceramics, photography, and mixed media, often reflecting Taoist philosophy. Tung has received multiple awards, including the Dr Tan Tsze Chor Art Award, and has exhibited widely across Southeast Asia.
This mixed media work with gold leaf has been with us for over two decades—a quiet presence in our space, bringing both calm and character to our office.
We were drawn to them not only for their beauty, but for their balance: the interplay of geometry and gesture, the tension between earthy textures and luminous gold. Each time we paused in front of them, we saw something new—like meditations on time, memory, and meaning.
They have brought a quiet strength to our environment, reflecting our journey and our values: patience, perseverance, and the search for light even in complexity.
Acquired from Eagle Eye Gallery in 2003.
