Wayan Paramartha (Indonesian, b.1974) is a contemporary Indonesian painter whose practice explores figurative imagery through expressive compositions and imaginative narratives. His works often depict human figures and animals in unusual or dreamlike situations, combining elements of Balinese visual culture with a playful and contemporary sensibility. His paintings are characterised by expressive forms, vibrant colour, and a distinctive sense of humour.
Paramartha’s practice draws from his everyday surroundings and Balinese cultural environment, which he reinterprets through modern and often unexpected imagery. His works have been exhibited in Indonesia and internationally, including in the group exhibition Asian Perspective: Sixteen Artists from South East Asia at Galerie Waterton in 2018. He has also achieved recognition on the secondary market, with his works appearing regularly at auction, including his Dream Girl Series.
