Wong Shih Yaw (Singaporean, b. 1967) is a contemporary artist known for his expressive, narrative-driven paintings that often explore human spirituality and duality. Educated at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Wong emerged as part of Singapore’s vibrant contemporary art scene in the 1990s. His early involvement with The Artists Village, a pivotal collective in Singapore’s art history, positioned him among artists pushing boundaries of conceptual and expressive art.

Wong’s works are distinguished by their symbolic imagery and surreal composition, frequently incorporating religious or allegorical elements to reflect on human existence. His style moves fluidly between figuration and abstraction, often revealing a personal, introspective dialogue. Over the years, he has held several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows both locally and abroad, earning recognition for his distinctive voice in Singapore’s modern art landscape.
