    A MFA graduate from The China Academy of Art, Yang Xu (Chinese, b.1980) is a pupil of Chen Danqing. He works predominantly in oil on canvas, drawing inspiration from motion pictures, photography and still life.

    Yang Xu approaches his subjects with an unbiased and simplistic eye, portraying people and objects as they are. This is reflected in his choice of subjects, drawing from universal cultural icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Charlie Chaplin. He has exhibited widely across Asia and Europe, with solo and group exhibitions held in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Beijing and Cologne.

    Acquired from Richard Koh Fine Art in 2012.
