Zhang Fuming (Singaporean, b. 1989) is a Singaporean artist whose practice is rooted in traditional black-and-white woodblock printmaking. With a deep commitment to the physicality of relief carving, Zhang harnesses the precision and immediacy of the medium to craft compelling social commentaries through a contemporary realist lens. His works reflect a rigorous engagement with materiality, where the texture of wood itself becomes an integral part of the artistic expression, amplifying both gesture and narrative.

Beyond conventional printmaking, Zhang’s approach extends into a broader exploration of cultural introspection, perseverance, and contemporary issues, often unfolding through non-linear narratives. His prints are housed in esteemed private collections and government institutions, underscoring their significance within the visual arts landscape.

A recipient of the AAF Young Talent Programme (2014/2015), Zhang was conferred the Young Artist Award (2024), Singapore’s highest accolade for artists under 35, in recognition of his contributions to printmaking and his impact on the local arts scene.
